Ad hoc networks consist of a set of nodes equipped with wireless interfaces which form self-organizing and spontaneous networks. They are usually multihop in nature. That is, a node uses other nodes in its radio range as relays facilitating communication with other distant nodes in the network. Also, network topologies are hihgly dynamic due to the mobility of the nodes.
These properties pose a number of reasearch challenges and oportunites. As a matter of fact, ad hoc networks have become one of the most researched areas in communications, and many of the research ideas are now gaining momentum within standardization bodies. Following previous Ad-Hoc Networks and Wireless conferences in Sophia Antipolis, France(2008), Morelia, Mexico (2007), Ottawa, Canada (2006), Cancun, Mexico (2005), Vancouver, Canada (2004), Montreal, Canada (2003), and Toronto, Canada (2002), the eighth International Conference on Ad-Hoc Networks and Wireless will take place at the University of Murcia in Murcia, Spain, from September 16-19, 2009.
We are interested in work in progress, experimental and theoretical research in Wireless Sensor, Ad-Hoc, Mobile, Vehicular and Mesh Networks. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following areas:
